Jochen Käß is the first e-bike world champion

CENTURION VAUDE rider Jochen Käß has won the first e-bike world championship in Sillian (East Tyrol). On the 17 km long track with its 1.400 of climbing, the riders first had to conquer a long climb with a technical section in the end. Perfect for the experienced Käß who managed to overtake the leader so far, Christof Hochenwarter. Finally Käß crossed the finish line almost half a minute before his pursuer. Of course Käß is aware that the e-bike sport is still in its infancy and needs professional structures. Even small deviations in the motor set-up can make the difference between winning and losing. “The tracks have to be more complex and a better monitoring system has to be established to prevent illegal modifications.“ With the announcement of the UCI to introduce an e-bike world championship, the first step has been made. We are super excited for the future and see some good potential in showing our e-bikes in competition.
