Twentyniner
|
After initial astonishment, the Americans were enthused: Like a wave, a new MTB generation spilled out of the bike shops and onto the trails – “monster bikes” with giant 29” wheelsets. Meanwhile, these “Twentyniners” have reached Europe – and are currently capturing their own market. What are the differences compared to conventional concepts? A Twentyniner offers distinctly more traction due to the fact that the bigger tires share a larger contact surface with the trail. For the same reason, they provide better cornering stability and deferred wheel spin during uphill cycling. As XL wheelsets are heavier by nature, they generate slightly reduced agility at a little more weight. Thus, sprints require proportionately more pedal power. |
But generally, off-road rides on 29ers are real “monster fun”. Lighter high-quality wheelsets and suspension forks are available on the bike market now. Thus also CENTURION proudly presents two “big” Backfire versions which are definitely suitable for racing. The Ultimate 3.29 with its Fox fork and XT configuration belongs to our exclusive range of top-class Backfires . In terms of geometry, we have developed an own way to combine maximum riding comfort and optimum performance: The somewhat longer top tube goes hand in hand with a seat tube which is slightly angled in rearward direction. |
