There are favourite places calling for return again and again. Favourite routes one wants to cycle as often as possible. One memorizes the scents and colours of the landscape while noticing changes from day to day, from week to week and from season to season. A mountain creek is among my personal favourite places. Whenever possible, I take a little rest there while filling up my bidon bottle with cold clear water, watching the little waves – purling by in pure love of life and impatient anticipation to continue their long journey towards rivers, lakes and the sea immediately without respite. My creek! When I get in the saddle, I am already looking forward to it like to an old friend. But one day, I realized that I do not return to this creek in fact: Whenever I visit it, I experience something completely different! New waters, new purling waves – a new creek! The old one with all its aspects has long been gone – having reached its destination long ago, only remaining in my memories. Yes, and I myself am a new person! There’s so much I have experienced since my last visit, so much which has changed me intensively! How many new cells have developed in my body since then, how many thoughts and ideas have come to my mind! But I actually wonder if I really want to be the same person as at my last visit – not knowing and having experienced all those things which have happened in the meantime? No, I notice, because all that is part of me now – I would feel totally incomplete without all those experiences. Further development of this thought reveals that not only our whole surroundings change, modulate, refresh and “renew” in permanent manner – but also we ourselves moving in these surroundings while being a part of them. What a chance to revolutionize certain things! What a chance to revolutionize ourselves! This chance can be utilized – as by the purposeful renewal of CENTURION making our brand and our bikes even more beautiful, modern and therefore better! Once again like so many times before. But as far as I remember, we have never tackled this task as consistently as in the case of current Season 2011.

All readers of our new catalogue see and experience CENTURION at cutting-edge level. Design and technology represent a new and fascinating combination also evoking pleasant thoughts of return – which will, perhaps, soon be enhanced by individual “on-the-road” experiences of pedalling and relishing. So the new bike is renewed once again – and again and again… As Greek philosopher Heraclitus already realized some 3500 years ago, “You cannot step into the same river twice.” Currently, also the world of science is surprised by the level at which also mankind reinvents itself again and again: Even our DNS – the personal code of all our characteristics – seems not to be “inherited” and unchangeable, but also varies according to our individual lifestyle and attitude. Which freedom! Which great chance to perceive all things along our journey differently – anew and anew! Which possibility to stay young! Because also that seems to be recognized by more and more scientists: If the brain is repeatedly “rewired” (in form of new synapses) via reception of new experiences, our way of development will never be interrupted. So a rolling stone gathers no moss, as we know as bike athletes! Is there a conclusion of this greeting towards the readers of our 2011 CENTURION catalogue? As already mentioned, the following pages showcase a lot of new and exquisitely beautiful bikes. But your latest 2011 discovery could be the fact that the whole world changes, renews and regenerates with each breath!
