Brilliant and brand-new: CENTURION’s first 29er fully! Like many other innovations, also this one was US-bred. MTBs with XXL wheelset. “Long-legged” like foals, a little heavier due to additional material. With slightly less agility and slower sprinting performance – but unbelievably cool because new and from the USA. This was Europe’s initial and rather restrained reaction. But only until local riders tested the new big wheels by themselves while the bike press released first reviews with wholehearted enthusiasm.

Our CENTURION R&D experts took their time for own experiences – definitely with success: The big wheelset offers a lot of additional comfort. So much comfort that the rear suspension travel of our 29er Numinis model could be reduced by 20 mm in favour of drive-train neutrality – at the same superb suspension performance!

In terms of riding characteristics, a 26” MTB tackles the trail like an angry dog: Aggressively, dedicatedly and persistently. The athlete always perceives each and every detail of the currently absolved course. In comparison, a 29er is more easy-going – many bumps are simply overrun and therefore absorbed by the big wheels. Thus not all little roots or obstacles are “routed” directly into the rider’s physique. Undoubtedly more advantage than loss!

The truth: 29ers get increasingly popular. They are especially appreciated by all those who give them a trial: Our intelligent adaption of frame geometry provides the familiar feeling of a 26” MTB. Thus the legendary CENTURION seating comfort occurs automatically.
