Udo Bölts

Welcome, Udo Bölts! From 1st January 2011, the 44-year old cycling legend will be working with the Magstadt-based traditional CENTURION enterprise, in order to act as an experienced expert for new development, and be available as a corporate representative or supporter for several test events. “I always liked Udo’s honesty and that he kept both feet firmly on the ground“, CENTURION-CEO Wolfgang Renner beams. Like Bölts, he is a former competitive cyclist and is now looking forward to the joint commitment.

Udo Bölts, born in August 1966 in Heltersberg/Palatine, is known to cyclists above all for his famous quotation, which he used to incite, in 1997, yellow jersey wearing Jan Ullrich on a Vosges stage of the Tour de France: "Torment yourself, you pig!" has been considered since then as the ultimate motivation credo by racing cyclists.

After starting his professional career with the Team Stuttgart in 1989, Bölts - between 1991 and 2002, rode for the Team Telekom (later Team T-Mobile), during his final season in 2003, he mounted his bike for the Team Gerolsteiner. Udo Bölts holds two German records: he competed twelve consecutive years in the Tour de France, the most important street cycling race in the world, and he finished each one. In 1990, 1995 and 1999, Bölts was German Road Cycling Champion.
