One bike for all purposes – a bike that’s equally suitable for shopping, visiting friends or the way to school. A bike which manages getting to the swimming lake (with a crate of soda) and back (with the empty bottles). A trusty two-wheeled travel companion that also doesn’t mind some uphill passages. Back then, there were only such bikes. Not very solid due to weak brakes and just equipped with a 3-speed gear hub. But the cyclists of those days accepted this very exhausting situation: There simply was no alternative.

But today, you have the choice: Riders who favour uphill off-road cycling select another bike than athletes who like to dash down steep descents. 

In the face of so many competitors, a real all-rounder has to offer a lot of quality to convince the experts.
