Low Ratio Suspension (LRS)

LRS bikes are different – the short, but appropriate description of the rider’s feeling in the saddle of a CENTURION model with LRS rear stay. Because: In contrast to shocks with standard installation lengths, these bikes feature our so-called “Low Ratio Suspension” which is characterized by a considerably modified transmission ratio: Conventional rear stay systems utilize a suspension ratio of 3:1 or 3.5:1 (per 3 respectively 3.5 cm surface unevenness to be compensated, there is a counter-pole of 1 cm shock reaction). On the contrary, LRS works with a ratio of 1.85:1 – e. g. at 6 cm rear wheel deflection, the shock compresses slightly over 3 cm. This construction has obvious advantages: Due to enhanced surface mapping, LRS reacts more sensitively to the cycling terrain. Simultaneously, system durability increases considerably thanks to less mechanical/physical stress on the shock.

Our classic 120 mm Numinis touring models of MY 2011 are still equipped with LRS – as this system provides another plus which is especially interesting for tour bikers: Thanks to the parallel position of shock and seat stay, the frame triangle offers enough space for a second bottle cage. This untypical fully feature relieves your back from an additional kilogram during your next long-distance trip…
